Most members of the full-time mathematics faculty hold doctoral degrees. The department prides itself on the excellence of quality in its teaching. The department's strength in this area is augmented by the continuing pursuit of scholarly and professional growth of its members. The faculty represent a wide spectrum of research and teaching interests including modern algebra, graph theory, cryptology, programming languages, topology, applied mathematics, analysis of algorithms, and artificial intelligence. Their efforts generate outstandingly prepared graduates, publications in scholarly journals, and presentations at national meetings of mathematical sciences.
